A Researcher’s All-in-One Helper Page – Just a Few Simple Clicks

Would you like to find all of the Record Hints, Possible Duplicates, Temple Opportunities, People with Memories, and even Pioneer Ancestors that are in your family tree on Family Search? There is a page on Family Search where all of this information is combined in one place and is easy to access. You don’t need to do endless searching through your family lines in your family tree looking for record hints or temple opportunities.

To access this “All in One Researcher Helper Page,” go to the opening page on FamilySearch. In the upper right hand corner, you will see the word “Help” with a drop down arrow. Push the drop down arrow and go down to the bottom of the pop up list to “Helper Resources.” Push on “Helper Resource”s and a page about “Temple and Family History Callings” will come up. There is a box that says “Add Someone to the Planner” at the top of the box. In that box there is a line that says “Added or Accepted.” Push on that line in the box and your own name will come up. Push on your name and you will see a section titled “Family History Activities.”

In the “Family History Activities” section are Ancestor Occupations, Pioneer Ancestors, and People with Memories that are in your family tree. Then below that are “Hints” that are record sources that you can attach as sources to ancestors in your family tree and also “Hints” that are sources which will also add events such as a Christening, death etc. to ancestors in your family tree. Next there is section called “Temple.” There are Temple Opportunities, Possible Duplicates, Permission Needed, and Information Needed for temple work for your ancestors in your family tree in that section.

It is nice to have all of this useful information located in one place on FamilySearch. You can use this section to help you with your research or to help others with their family research on FamilySearch. –Alison VanLeeuwen

  1. Thanks for mentioning that. I should have stated that familysearch.org/discovery has Compare-a-face, In-Home activities, All About Me, Picture My Heritage and Record My Story. However, going to the Family History Activities through the Helper Resources process I described there are many additional resources.

These additional resources are: Pioneer Ancestors, Ancestor’s Headstones, Occupations, Missionaries, Relief Society, Record Hints, Marriage, World War I Draft and Service Records, and People with Memories. It also provides access to available hints that will add sources and events, Temple opportunities, Possible duplicates, Permissions needed, and Information needed.
