FamilySearch is constantly improving the website we have all come to know and love. These improvements help users have a better experience in finding and linking to their ancestors, and completing needed temple work.
In a recent article “What’s Coming to Family Search in 2020″ written by Briana Taylor, for the FamilySearch Blog (used by permission), an outline of changes to the FamilySearch website show what changes we can look forward to this year. They include:
- More languages – More records in many different languages, and the ability to have the record displayed in the language you specify.
- Faster access to new records and editable dates and places – A new tool to view records that haven’t been indexed, and tools to edit records that have been indexed.
- Better merging – Tools to more easily merge ancestor profiles when you find duplicates.
- Updates to Latest Changes and New Contributions tabs, to be better able to see details of edits that have been done.
- Easier ways to find and sort memories – Tools will enable us to better search documents and photographs that are posted to Memories.
- Going Social – Improving Social interactions between users on the FamilySearch website. Sharing person pages on other social media sites such as Facebook and WhatsApp.
FamilySearch is already amazing, and will only get better, even more user friendly in 2020. So log in to FamilySearch, and look for these new changes, try the new tools, share them with others and let them help you in your Temple and Family History work this year. –Elaine Hardman
