Family Search Partner Sites

Since 2014, FamilySearch and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has had a partnership with many organizations that provide genealogical resources. Some of these partners can be linked to directly from FamilySearch. If you are looking for records for a family member and want to find additional records, you can search these records from the person page of the person you are interested in. On the right side of the person page, you will see a “search records” section, where you can click any of these partner sites and possibly find more information about that family member.

There are many partner sites where you can find additional records, but these are some that are used most often. If you have not set up an account with these sites, it is easy to do. In an article written by Steve Anderson for FamilySearch: All Latter-day Saint Members, Including Youth, Can Now Get Free Access to FamilySearch Partner Websites, you will find links to set up accounts with Ancestry.com, MyHeritage, and findmypast. These partner sites may provide in depth information about the person you are trying to research. At the Family History Guide, you can find lessons that instruct you how to set up these accounts and how to use them.

At these sites you may also find educational resources (documents and videos) that can instruct you on and help you in your genealogical research. For example at Ancestry.com, if you click on “AncestryAcademy” you will find numerous videos under these headings:

  • 5-Minute Finds
  • Researching Your Military Ancestors in the U.S.
  • Newspapers.com
  • Getting the Most out of Ancestry
  • Researching a State
  • Researching outside of the United States
  • Methodology and Skills
  • Find A Grave
  • Understanding DNA
  • Did You Know?
  • Census Records

You can go in person to the Granite Family History Center, where you will have access to additional partner sites and extended resources that you can use there, but would not be available at home without a cost. The temple and family history consultants that work there can help you find and use these resources.

If you have never used these partner sites, sign up now, and learn what a blessing they can be in you Family History work.
