Over the years, the Center has collected many family history resource books. Early on, an effort was started to catalog the books and make them available to the patrons and consultants. Not long after, a new batch of books was donated and has been waiting to become part of the Center resources.
Fast forward a few years later. As new consultants join the Center to serve shifts, they also bring with them many talents and skills. In the last year, a retired county librarian joined us and we seized the opportunity to have her tackle the job of organizing our library!
So, thanks to Danette Hantla, we have a NEW and updated resource to the Center. The library is now available and ready for you to use. The link is: Library Thing.
It will be a new menu item on the granitefhc.com website. Look for it there. We will no longer have a library link on the bookmark bar on the computers.
Patrons and consultants can use the books while visiting the Granite FamilySearch Center. The library is located on the north wall of the Book Scanner room. Please note where you pull the book off of the shelf and return it to its original spot. The books are grouped by subject but are not numbered since our library is not very large. You are welcome to photocopy books with any relevant pages as needed. We have decided that there will not be a check out system at this point but if there is a need as we begin using it, we can adjust.
Thank you to all the wonderful consultants at the Center. We are so grateful for the talents you bring and your willingness to contribute to make the Center a great resource to all who want to do family history. Enjoy this new resource. We hope it will be helpful to you!
