RootsTech 2020 has now become part of history but the intended goal to learn, share, collaborate, and discover will live on!While participating in RootsTech this February, I had the pleasure of hosting in the Family History Guide booth in the Expo Hall. It is so easy to share the news of the Family History Guide. It is a powerful tool to learn how to do family history and engage our families and friends in family history activities and it is free to all! This was such a great discovery for many, many people!
As I spoke with people, they shared their experiences in the work of family history in their own communities, wards, and stakes. We collaborated on ways they could engage more people in their area. But also in my visits my re-discovery was what a gift we have right here in our own backyard, what an incredible gift our family history center is! Some folks were trying to work out of a closet in a classroom. Still others had a room but could not inspire others to come and have their own discovery experiences. It occurred to me time after time how blessed we are to not only have a most accommodating Center to work in but so much participation from every age group and from all around!
It is humbling to recognize the blessings that come from the Granite Family History Center: the strength of the youth, the knowledge of our wonderful consultants, the inspiration and genius of the Family History Guide, and finally the amazing purpose that compels all the work – the love of our families on this side and the other side of the veil.
I am so thankful for the gift of the Granite Family History Center and the gift of serving alongside so many dedicated people. I look forward with renewed vision and gratitude to learn, share, collaborate, and discover more family history with all of you! –Janet Helland
