Many of us have been home schooling our elementary and secondary school children for the last two weeks, due to COVID-19. For most parents, our children’s schools or teachers provided them with a curriculum to help children learn what they need to. While the curriculum may be available to parents, I have spoken to some who have found taking on the, role of teacher to be challenging.
Whether or not you are enjoying your new role, you may have the desire to provide other enriching activities for your children. In an article written by James Tanner, titled: The Family History Guide and Home Schooling, you will find many ideas for how The Family History Guide can be used to enrich your child’s (children’s) learning experiences while they are home. This article contains links to projects, and activities, and may provide just what you need to make teaching and learning from home more engaging.
If you are homeschooling your children, or know someone who is, read this article, and share The Family History Guide with them, you’ll be glad and they’ll be grateful you did. –Elaine Hardman
